Today we woke up early to a beautiful view of Half Dome outside our tent. We ate some dehydrated granola with bananas and milk, filtered water from the creek, packed up our gear and hit the trail. Right at the start, Randy had to scare an adult black bear out of our way…what a pro! We were optimistic that the hike would be a piece of cake compared to yesterday’s, but it was still challenging—6 miles, mostly uphill. Good thing the views were stunning.
The last 2 miles of today’s hike were strenuous. We wandered into May Lake backpacker’s campground tired, blistered and starving. We were asleep before sunset—after our tasty dehydrated packs of chana masala and chocolate cheesecake for dessert. Hopefully tomorrow will be flat…how much farther up can we climb?
