One of the best things about this trip is that I’ve been able to visit with old friends to hang out. Dave and Trish had us over for a delicious dinner of barbecued salmon.
We brought them a bottle of my dad’s elderberry wine, 1988 vintage, that I affectionately call “Kookoo Juice”. I make a point of testing each bottle before I ask anyone else to drink it. Kind of like a royal wine taster, but in some cases, I turn out to be the royal wine jester. This bottle checked out. Even though it was drinkable, and mixed with seltzer, it didn’t stop Becca from having a pretty big hang over the next day from the high sugar and alcohol content.
As you can see the only shot of Dave and Trish I managed to get was of Dave sitting at the gramophone, as usual. I did however get some shots of the amazing ice cream safe that Dave’s brother Andy and his wife (they are talented blacksmiths and another old friend) made for Trish last Christmas to help her protect her ice cream from Dave – apparently it’s a problem.
